Hellman & Friedman acquires EHR vendor athenahealth

 In a $17 billion deal, two private equity firms acquired cloud-based EHR vendor Athenahealth.


athenahealth, an EHR vendor has launched athenaOne Voice assistant powered by Nuance. The voice-driven application is designed to decrease clinician burnout and improve patient experience.


Athenahealth EHR developed Voice Assistant, a command-based virtual assistant. It is powered by Nuance's Dragon Medical technology. This technology allows providers to review schedules and create draft orders.


This technology is compatible with athenaOne's mobile app and athenaOne Dictation Powered By Nuance. This technology allows providers to dictate medical documents naturally and accurately.


Athrayil Kalathil, part of the platform R&D organization, is responsible for leading many engineering teams that work on platform experiences. She currently resides in Bengaluru.


Athrayil Kalyan, who is a member the EHR vendor's Women's Leadership Forum is also a leader in athenahealth's Women in Technology subcommittee, athenahealth in Bengaluru. Athrayil is focused on creating a strong culture and community at work through workshops, discussion forums, fireside chats and discussion forums.


Bela Labovitch, vice president of engineering at athenaCollector, was awarded the HBA Luminary Award.


HBA luminaries are professionals with over 20 years of industry experience. They demonstrate transformational leadership and mentor other people.


Labovitch supports the Women's Leadership Forum as an EHR vendor. Labovitch supports Girls Who Code, an athenaGives partner and mentorship program that focuses on closing the gender technology gap.

HBA presented the Ambassador Impact Award to athenahealth in recognition of its outstanding efforts. This award is given to those who implemented the Ambassador Programs by 2021.


HBA specifically acknowledged athenahealth to be a standardizer for Employee Resource Groups (ERG).


Allyson livingstone, executive Director for Diversity and Inclusion at athenahealth and Laura Jennings, manager of billing rules, led the initiative.
